Medallion Labs Changes to Trace Metals Offering

Posted 02/03/2012 in Announcements

We are happy to announce changes to our Trace Metals offering.  In the last year, we have made extensive improvements to our nutritional elemental and heavy trace metals testing program. We have upgraded our instrumentation to an ICP-MS system which will allow us to give you results in parts per billion rather than parts per million. These improvements allow for better accuracy and lower quantitation limits ensuring the safety and quality of your product.

We are happy to announce that starting February 1, 2012 Medallion will be offering two new screens in addition to our current Metals I and Metals II screens. We will be offering a Trace Nutrient Metals Screen which is comprised of the nutritional elements of Barium, Boron, Chromium, Cobalt, Molybdenum, Nickel, and Selenium. We are also offering a Heavy Metals Package as part of our ongoing effort to ensure your products are safe for your consumers. This package detects the heavy metal contaminants of Antimony, Arsenic, Cadmium, Lead, and Mercury.

Medallion Labs Offers Chemical Analysis for Carbendazim in Orange Juice

Posted 02/03/2012 in Announcements

The Food and Drug Administration announced on January 11, 2012 that it would temporarily halt all imports on foreign orange juice due to potential contamination by the fungicide Carbendazim (part of the Benzimidazole family).

Medallion Labs can provide ISO/IEC 17025 certified chemical analysis for Carbendazim in orange juice utilizing the QuEChERS method of extraction and identification, confirmation, and quantification using high performance liquid chromatography (UPLC-MS/MS).  The limit of detection for Carbendazim is 0.010 mg/kg.

Manufacturers of juice and beverages containing juice are encouraged to screen for this fungicide which could potentially create a public health risk.  In addition to fungicides, Medallion Labs offers extensive contaminant testing for all types of foods and beverages.
